Exceptionally good space opera with some horror elements. Think baroque kilometer-long spaceships, nanotechnology gone very wrong, and an archaeological mystery that could result in the end of the human race. Revelation Space is the first in a trilogy; Reynolds has other books set in the same universe if you enjoy these.
